Behind the Scenes: Side Projects and What's Next
Every developer has a folder of side projects—some finished, some not—that don't always make it to the main portfolio. These are the passion projects, the learning experiments, and the "I wonder if I can build that" moments. I wanted to share a few of mine and give you a peek at what I'm currently working on.
EraseIt: A Tool for Privacy
Have you ever wanted to quickly remove the background from a photo without uploading it to a random website? I have. That's why I built EraseIt. It's a simple, fast, and private background removal tool that runs directly in your browser. I wanted a utility that I could trust, so I decided to build it myself.
DevilFruit: A Tribute to One Piece
As a huge fan of the anime One Piece, I wanted to create something that combined my love for the series with my passion for UI design. The result is DevilFruit, an encyclopedia of the mystical Devil Fruits from the show. It was a fun project to work on, allowing me to experiment with different UI concepts while nerding out about my favorite anime.
What I'm Building Now
My journey of learning and creating never stops. Here are a couple of things I'm currently focused on:
1. AI-Powered Image Upscaler
I'm currently deep into the world of generative AI and building an application that can upscale images. The goal is to create a tool that can enhance the resolution and quality of photos, making them crisp and clear. It's a challenging project that's teaching me a lot about AI models and image processing.
2. A Custom Photography Portfolio
While I love using platforms like Pixieset, I've started to feel its limitations. The restrictions on the number of images, the lack of UI customization, and the inability to change fonts have inspired me to build my own photography portfolio from the ground up. This will give me complete creative control to design a space that truly represents my photographic style.
These projects are where I experiment, learn, and grow the most. Thanks for taking a look behind the scenes!
